The base model of the 2023 Ford Explorer starts at $36,760. Rear-wheel drive comes standard along with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine, a 10-speed automatic transmission and the ability to generate 300 horsepower. Standard features include a power liftgate, 18-inch alloy wheels, one-touch up and down power front windows and an 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat.

The 2023 Ford Explorer XLT

The XLT starts at $38,570 and builds off the base Explorer with roof rails, heated side mirrors, keyless entry and push-button start. The 2023 Ford Explorer Timberline

The Timberline trim starts life at $48,980 and is designed to compete with off-road SUVs like the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Four-wheel drive comes standard and so does a terrain management system with Normal, Eco, Sport, Tow/Haul, Trail, Slippery and Deep Snow/Sand modes. Building off the XLT High Package, the Timberline adds CoPilot360® Assist+ with a 360-degree camera and heated rear seats. The Timberline also comes with a limited-slip rear axle, extra skid plate protection, more ground clearance and heavy-duty off road struts and shocks.

The 2023 Ford Explorer Limited

Starting price on the Ford Explorer Limited is $47,070. It offers an available 3.3-liter hybrid gas/electric powertrain with 318 horsepower and the ability to tow up to 5,000 pounds. The rear-wheel drive version of the hybrid gets the best fuel economy with estimates of 27 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on highways around White Plains NY. The non-hybrid Explorer Limited gives you the same 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine as you get with the XLT.

The 2023 Ford Explorer ST

The ST trim starts the bidding at $50,005 and come standard with a 3.0-liter V6 engine with 400 horsepower. Building off the XLT High Package, the ST gives you a 20.2-gallon fuel tank and 20-inch aluminum wheels. You also get sport suspension with stiffer shocks and springs to improve cornering and stability at high speeds. A 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium stereo is an available upgrade.
